First Serbian berries at abbGrowers

First harvest of Serbian berries
“This week we started harvesting the first blueberries in Serbia”, says Fred Douven, CEO at abbGrowers. “I drove there again this week to see how the berries are doing. I was here two weeks ago and the berries weren't ripe yet. We want to monitor it closely and share our expertise with the growers in Serbia with whom we work closely. They also appreciate that, the better the product, the better the prices we can pay to the growers.”

Immediately visible how many kilos
At the company Maksimovic Brothers Doo of the growers Marko and Luka Maksimovic (brothers), it is now time to get started. In close contact with the Netherlands, the harvested blueberries are now being weighed, and are registered directly in the abbGrowers system. The advantages of this are that we immediately know how many kilos are coming in, what the quality is and we save on handling costs in the Netherlands. Our commercial department in the Netherlands now knows immediately how many kilos they can count on to supply our customers,” Fred Douven explains enthusiastically.
